Does the Norfolk Broads Need the Working Windmills/Pumps Back?

Watermills/Pumps are often regarded as being in the late 18/19th centuries but they actually go back a lot further.
Next time you are passing Hunsett Mill, have a look at the date on the actual mill, pretty sure it indicates a 17th century date possibly to an earlier construction.
The land drainage by mills we owe to the Dutch... they really cracked it.
However through tine they evolved with steam, diesel and electric etc as there is not always wind and you need it pumping when it needs pumping.
With all these mills or ruins laying around... wouldn't it make sense to restore them with modern mechanisms.
One they would shift the floods and two they could even generate power.
I find it hard to believe that somebody somewhere is forking out to run an electric water pump all day and night for months at a time to fight back these floods we have had and still suffering with.

So surely the restoration of the mills is the answer...it worked before so why not again?
